An iconic avenue of stone pines welcomes visitors to Neethlingshof Estate, just outside the town of Stellenbosch. The Estate respects and embraces the influences of history whilst driving progress for the future – but always in balance with nature. All wines are made from grapes grown on the Estate, utilizing the unique and diverse terroir to produce a variety of award-winning wines.
Neethlingshof is also a WWF Conservation Champion and since 2019 all wines are vegan. The Estate Range offers cultivar wines that are a pure expression of the terroir on the estate and the characteristics of the cultivar. The Short Story Collection offers high end wines celebrating the conservation efforts on the Estate as well as telling stories from the past. The 1802 Collection offers a specialist Cabernet Sauvignon as well as a unique Pinotage.
The first HILL&DALE wines were made in 2001 by acclaimed winemaker, Guy Webber.
Eighteen years later, Guy sources the grapes for the HILL&DALE range from a variety of farms around Stellenbosch. The Stellenbosch district is the second oldest wine growing area in South Africa and is responsible for around 14% of the country’s annual wine production.
The wine range includes a Sauvignon blanc, Chardonnay and dry Merlot Rose as well as Merlot, Pinotage and Cabernet Sauvignon/Shiraz. A Brut Rose and Brut Sparkling wine complete the range.
Bonnievale Wines lies in the Breederiver Valley and is named after the quaint town of Bonnievale that was founded by the visionary Scotsman, Christopher Forrest Rigg around the turn of the 19th century. The fertile land in the Bonnievale valley boasts a variety of geology, geography and climate, creating a varied terroir that is evident in the selection of grapes and wine produced.
Bonnievale Wines works with more than 100 primary grape growers, building a high quality sustainable grape supply network. Marthinus Rademeyer heads up the winemaking team. Bonnievale carries full WIETA accreditation.
Owned by the Jordaan family, Theuniskraal is situated about 7 km north of the village of Tulbagh, tucked into the Winterhoek Valley. The Jordaan family came to the valley in 1927 when the widow Jordaan bought the farm for her two sons, Andries and Harry. The private wine industry at the time was almost non-existent, but they were determined to make high-quality wine and by the 1940s Theuniskraal was shipping respectable quantities of wine in bulk to London. Current winemaker is Andries Jordaan, grandson of Andries.
Wines include a Cape Riesling, Semillon / Chardonnay blend, Sauvignon blanc, Bouquet blanc (Gewurztraminer / Bukettraube blend), Moscato Rose, Prestige (red blend), Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz.
The Vinoneers is a platform created by a winemaker and a designer to express their creative indulgence without restraint – a pure expression of the love for fine wine and art. Creating only the finest small batch, hand-crafted wines and engagingly tactile packaging with a unique artistic feel, the synergy between wine and art is tangible.
Established in 2010, The Vinoneers is a unique partnership between Etienne Louw from Altydgedacht Estate and Brenden Schwartz from Bravo Design.
Established in 1999, Lomond was developed as a grape farm in a region completely new to wine farming. The farm is situated on the Agulhas Plain at the southernmost tip of Africa, only 8km from the sea. It falls in the Cape Agulhas appellation of origin. With 120 ha under vines, planted mostly on the slopes around the impressive dam and with 18 different soil types, Lomond produces intriguingly complex wines.
Current offer includes the Estate Wines, four Single Vineyard Wines, showcasing the influence of the different soil types, and The Limited Releases.
Owners John and Karen Loubser are crafting specialist, unique Method Cap Classique sparkling wines on their property between Robertson and Bonnievale. Silverthorn Wines is among only a handful of producers who have dedicated their expertise solely to the production of this elegant style of wine. Silverthorn’s terroir, with its rocky, lime-rich, shale soils is ideally suited to the production of superior bottle fermented sparkling wine.
